Trisor Reviews: How Stiftung Warentest Rated Trisor

Twice now, Stiftung Warentest - Germany's leading independent consumer testing organization - and its Finanztest publication have tested Trisor's safe deposit box offering, providing an independent perspective that echoes what many customers report in their own Trisor reviews. Many people search for Trisor reviews to find out how safe and reliable the service is compared to traditional bank safe deposit boxes, especially since demand for safe deposit boxes remains high while banks and savings banks keep scaling back their offerings.

Overall, reviews of Trisor are largely positive, and Stiftung Warentest backs this up with independent data: Trisor performs well against traditional bank safe deposit boxes on availability, insurance coverage and flexibility. Customers also particularly value 24/7 access without needing an appointment, along with the high level of security provided by certified vaults.

How did Stiftung Warentest test Trisor?

The test compared the terms and conditions of safe deposit boxes from 52 providers (40 banks and 12 alternative providers). Stiftung Warentest contacted a total of 80 banks and 22 alternative providers such as Trisor; the difference is made up of providers that declined ("no safe deposit box available", "service discontinued") or simply did not respond.

Compared directly with traditional bank safe deposit boxes, Trisor performs particularly well on availability and flexibility: while many banks no longer have any free safe deposit boxes, Trisor often still has capacity.

Safe deposit box sizes compared

Stiftung Warentest defined a model box with the following dimensions: 21cm x 4.9cm x 29.7cm (W/H/D) - large enough for A4 documents and used as the benchmark size for comparing bank safe deposit boxes.

Bank safe deposit boxes of this size have a volume of around 3 litres and are the smallest box most providers offer. Available sizes vary by location and branch.

Trisor offers safe deposit boxes in 3 different sizes at every location, so customers can choose the size that best fits their valuables.

Insurance coverage

Stiftung Warentest also asked whether insurance coverage was included, and at what level. At Trisor, basic coverage of €5,000 is already included in the rental price and can be increased up to €500,000.

Cash

Note: not every provider automatically insures cash stored in a safe deposit box - a point Stiftung Warentest also highlights. At Trisor, cash is covered by insurance, something frequently mentioned positively in Trisor reviews. In the event of a claim, however, customers must be able to prove to the insurer that the stated amount of cash was actually stored in the box.

Available safe deposit boxes

The figure reported by Stiftung Warentest (rounded, in percent) refers to all of a provider's safe deposit boxes. At Trisor, boxes are still available at every location, though waiting lists already exist for some sizes.

Renting a safe deposit box - how discreet is Trisor?

Banks report the opening of a safe deposit box to the tax authorities. Private providers like Trisor are only required to do so on a case-by-case basis, for example in the event of inheritance.

At Trisor, customers do need to identify themselves once with a valid ID, but after that, the rental itself can be paid in cash. For more information on all Trisor locations and renting a safe deposit box in person, click here.
